Weston Edwards, from football field to philanthropy

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Weston Edwards, a graduate of Lowndes High School and current football player at Florida State University, is facing a difficult personal challenge after being diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) in 2024.

TOS, a rare condition, has caused significant pain and discomfort for Weston, and despite seeing numerous doctors, the consensus is that surgery is his only option for relief.

Despite the tough diagnosis, Weston has remained resilient, leaning on his faith and strength to persevere through the physical and emotional obstacles. Rather than allowing his circumstances to define him, he has used his platform as a college athlete to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Weston recently launched a nonprofit called Hope and Hustle, a project born from his passion for both football and giving back to his community. The organization focuses on inspiring young athletes and providing support for those in need, especially those facing serious health challenges.

As part of his mission, Weston is hosting his first camp, where he will work with young athletes while raising awareness and funds for a cause close to his heart: supporting a young athlete who is battling bone cancer.

Through the camp, Weston hopes to not only provide athletic training, but also uplift participants by showing them that they too can overcome obstacles, just as he continues to do.
