NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt was represented on the National Football League’s (NFL) biggest stage for the seventh-straight season with five players competing for either the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Philadelphia Eagles long snapper and Old Dominion alum Rick Lovato earned his second Super Bowl ring in his third appearance on the game’s biggest stage as a member of the franchise.
Representing the Kansas City Chiefs safety and Marshall alum Nazeeh Johnson played 20 snaps, while Southern Miss product and linebacker Swayze Bozeman recorded two tackles in the game.
Eighty-seven Sun Belt football alumni held roster spots across all 32 NFL rosters at the conclusion of the 2024 regular season. Thirty-seven alums were rostered across all 14 playoff teams with five appearing in Super Bowl LIX.
