Doan netted the last two goals of the match at Europa-Park Stadion as he swept into the bottom corner from the edge of the box in the 76th minute before tapping home a low left-wing cross in second-half stoppage time.
“I thought it would go in if I were able to hit it through the legs of a defender,” Doan said of his first goal, adding he created a “clear chance” by getting in front of his marker for the second.
Kiliann Sildillia scored a 15th-minute overhead kick to open the scoring and Vincenzo Grifo got a brace of his own after burying a 33rd-minute free kick and volleying home unmarked in the 57th minute.
Doan is enjoying his best scoring return in the league in his third season at Freiburg having registered five and seven goals in his first two campaigns.
“The number is improving every year so I can really feel my development,” the 26-year-old said.
