It may not seem like it but football is right around the corner for LSU.
The Tigers are a little over two weeks away from taking the field for its first spring practice of 2025. It’s a monumentally important offseason for Brian Kelly and this LSU coaching staff to fit these pieces together. While not a young team, this is a new team in many respects and will need to blend the experience they’ve brought in from the transfer portal with the youth in this 2025 freshman class and the returning core group of players. That all begins on March 8 when the purple and gold take to the practice field after several months of workouts.
“The big picture plan was to surround Garrett on offense, to give Blake [Baker] the pieces that he needs on defense, to have a championship roster. I believe we did that on paper, now we need to go to work on that,” Kelly said. “That work is in the details over the next few months.”
With so many fresh faces to begin incorporating into the lineup, we thought we’d break down the offense and defensive depth charts in separate pieces.
Let’s begin with the offensive side of the ball, the players who will be competing for starting reps and predicting who runs with the first team to begin spring ball. Keep in mind this roster will only include the freshmen early enrollees and transfers so there will be more pieces to incorporate when the rest of the class joins the purple and gold in the summer.
