On Monday, Feb. 10, Mt. Vernon High School senior Grayson Gann signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and football career as a Wildcat at Baker University in Baldwin, Kan. He plans to major in Athletic training/teaching and wants to coach.
This year was his third year as a member of the Mt’neers varsity football team. During his three years he was awarded 2024 All Conference Wide Receiver and All District Wide Receiver.
Along with football, he is also in his fourth year on the Mt. Vernon Mt’neer varsity baseball team and played his freshman and sophomore years on the varsity basketball team. He also received Academic All-State honors for maintaining a 3.8 GPA.
Gann said, “I chose Baker because of the history of the program and the coaches, I played for two of the best high school coaches in the state in Cox and Johnston and the Baker coaches remind me of them and they know how to win, they have had a very successful program and I look forward to being part of it, and I really liked the campus.”
Mt. Vernon head football coach, Tom Cox said, “We are very excited that Grayson has chosen to continue his education and athletic career at Baker University. They are fortunate to get a player of Grayson’s caliber. He can excel on either side of the ball and on special teams as well. Congratulations to Grayson and his family.”
