The good times continue for the Maryland men’s basketball team.
Kevin Willard and the Terps (19-6, 9-5 Big Ten) won again on the road Thursday night, an 83-75 victory over Nebraska. All five starters scored in double figures for the fourth time this season, continuing to solidify their standing among the nation’s best starting units.
Maryland football head coach Mike Locksley has seen some changes in his staff recently, bringing back Andre Powell as the Terps’ special teams coordinator. More staff news seemed to break Friday – defensive coordinator Brian Williams appears headed to the same position at Jacksonville State.
The Maryland women’s basketball team (19-6, 9-5 Big Ten) took a tough 91-71 home loss to Nebraska on Thursday despite leading by 14 in the first quarter. The Terps have had to overcome some injuries, but there have still been positive moments, such as Brenda Frese earning her 600th career win as Maryland’s head coach on Feb. 6.
Spring sports are also underway, with the baseball team opening Friday, the men’s lacrosse team off to a 2-0 start and much more.
Athletic director Damon Evans joined “Vinny & Haynie” on 105.7 The Fan for his weekly appearance Thursday, hours before the big men’s basketball win, to discuss it all.
Evans spoke about how the recent play of Derik Queen has been “a huge point of pride,” the football staff, revenue-sharing and more.
