Former UK Football player wins third consecutive Super Bowl

KENTUCKY (WKYT) – Darian Kinnard was part of UK Football’s famed “Big Blue Wall” on the offensive line in 2021. Now, he’s won three Super Bowl championships in a row.

Kinnard won back-to-back rings with the Chiefs and his third ring came Sunday night playing with the Eagles.

“It’s unheard of. It’s like winning the lottery, right?” Kinnard’s former Offensive Line Coach at UK, Eric Wolford, said. “I mean, that’s an opening line in any speech he gives one day when he’s talking to young people.”

Wolford knew he had something special when Kinnard played right tackle on Saturdays. He was part of the famed “Big Blue Wall” in 2021 and earned the title of First Team All-American.

“In college, he looked like an NFL player,” Wolford said.

The six-foot-five, 320-pounder was a fifth-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 and on the practice squad in 2023. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.

Kinnard didn’t play many snaps with either team. His former coach says it doesn’t matter; he still contributed to the team and earned his rings.

“I don’t care if you’re talking about the sports information director, equipment manager; those people never see the field,” said Wolfard.

Before Kinnard got to this point, Coach Wolford says his former o-lineman had to block away some obstacles off the field.

“You know, Darian has expressed he’s overcome a lot of adversity in his life at a young age and that is a compliment to him,” Wolfard said.

Now, those days are behind him and maybe another Super Bowl in the future. Could it be a four-peat for his former player?

“I mean, I don’t see it being his last because I don’t see Philadelphia going anywhere right now,” Wolfard said.

Kinnard joins Ken Norton Jr. as the only two NFL players to win three Super Bowl rings in a row.

Kinnard is also a distant cousin of country music icon Dolly Parton.
