LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former Husker football player was arrested Friday after being pulled over in Stanton County.
Around 5:30 p.m., 23-year-old Zavier Betts was pulled over on Highway 15, just northeast of Pilger.
The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Betts had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on a drug probation warrant with no bond in Woodbury County, Iowa.
Betts was arrested for the DUS and outstanding warrant, and was lodged in the Stanton County Jail pending an extradition hearing back to Iowa.
Sheriff Mike Unger said this was the second time is just over 24 hours that a traffic stop led to the arrest of a driver on an outstanding felony warrant in Stanton County.
“Vigilant Traffic Enforcement not only helps keep our roadways safer but also leads to putting wanted people in jail where they belong,” he said.
Betts, a former wide receiver at Nebraska, left the program in 2023 for personal reasons. Before playing at Nebraska, he set the Class A record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 46.
The Bellevue West product was the No. 1-ranked recruit out of Nebraska in the 2020 class.
