When the high school football season kicks off the 2026 season, the leagues in which teams compete in are going to look a bit different.
Ayala will move out of the Baseline League, which will go from six to five teams, and Don Lugo will return to a six-team league instead of a four-team league which it has competed for the past four years.
School officials in the Mt. SAC area approved the new football-only leagues on March 14.
The leagues will be in place for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Re-league meetings take place every two years.
Ayala currently plays in the Baseline League with Chino Hills, Etiwanda, Damien, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland.
In 2026, Ayala will compete in a league against Ayala, Bonita, Charter Oak, Colony, Glendora, and Northview.
Ayala finished 2-9 overall, 0-5 in the Baseline League in 2024.
Chino High will compete against Alta Loma, Claremont, Diamond Ranch, Los Osos, and San Dimas, starting in 2026.
The Cowboys won a share of the Hacienda League title in 2024 with a 4-1 record.
Currently, Chino competes in the Hacienda League against Covina, South Hills, Diamond Bar, Los Altos and Walnut.
Chino Hills has competed in the Baseline League since the 2014-15 season. Last season, the Huskies finished second in the league standings at 4-1 with their only loss to league champion Damien High (5-0).
Don Lugo High won the four-team Gano League title in 2024 and the four-team San Antonio League championship in 2023 but will return to a six-team league in 2026.
The Conquistadores will play the 2025 season in the Gano League with Rowland, Montclair, and Chaffey, but will move to a six-team league with Chaffey, Montclair, Nogales, Rowland, and Walnut.
