Keiser was led by senior Haylie Young, who completed 15-of-20 passes for 177 yards and a career-high five touchdown passes. Young’s top target was Adrianna Cavalotti, who had six catches for 67 yards and two receiving scores. The native of Staten Island, N.Y., also scored on an interception for a touchdown. Ashlea Klam made only two catches in the game but both were for touchdowns.
Defensively, the Seahawks forced five interceptions, produced eight flag pulls for loss, including six sacks. Sa’mya Bryant led all Seahawks with six flag pulls. Rushers Emma Wagenman and Reigan Pelligrino each recorded four flag pulls for loss and three sacks. For Wagenmen, the Loxahatchee native became the first Keiser player to record 50 sacks in a career (51.5).
The 68-point outing was the third-highest point total in program history, becoming just the fifth time a Keiser team has reached the 60-point plateau.
With the win, Keiser improved to 9-0 all-time versus the Lions (6-0 all-time in West Palm Beach). The win improved Keiser to 20-3 all-time at home and extended the Seahawk’s home-winning streak to eight games.
Keiser 13, Florida Memorial 0
- The Seahawk defense set the tone on the opening drive, holding the Lions to negative two yards rushing as FMU turned the ball over on downs at their own 12-yards line
- Emma Wagenman notched her first sack of the game on fourth-and-two to set Keiser up deep in FMU territory
- The Seahawks took advantage of the field position as Haylie Young connected with Adrianna Cavalotti for four-yards and the score, giving Keiser a 6-0 lead (7:55)
- On the team’s next drive, KU went 37 yards on four plays to extend its lead
- Young found the endzone on a four-yard run, giving Keiser a 13-0 advantage with 2:14 left in the first
- The rushing score was the second of Young’s Keiser career
Keiser 35, Florida Memorial 0
- On the first play of the second quarter, Cavalotti recorded her first of two interceptions on the day, picking off a pass by FMU’s Thaymiluz Santos
- The turnover gave KU the ball at the Florida Memorial 18-yard line (11:41)
- However, Young had a pass picked off by FMU’s Ronisha Gibbs at the Lion’s five-yard line, stopping the Keiser threat (11:04)
- Later in the quarter, the Seahawks used a 20-yard pass from Young to Ashlea Klam to added to their lead
- Following a successful two-point conversion, Keiser led 21-0 (8:07)
- The TD catch was the first of the season for Klam and 28th of her young Keiser career
- Following the score, FMU had another Santos pass picked off, this time by Kennedy Foster, who gave the Seahawks the ball at the FMU 15-yard line with 7:40 left in the half
- Again, it took just one play as Young found Klam in the endzone for the 15-yard score, pushing the KU lead to 28-0
- After a Reigan Pellegrino sack, Lizandra Amor notched her first pick of the season as Keiser took possession at their own 39-yard line (5:48)
- A five-play, 41-yard drive which was set up by the Amor turnover gave Keiser 35-0 lead following a Young to Cavalotti connection for eight yards (2:56)
- The Lions threatened to get on the board in the late stages of the half but a flag pull by Foster at the KU four-yard line preserved the shutout as time expired
Keiser 61, Florida Memorial 0
- The Seahawks opened the second half, going 66 yards on seven play as a pass from Young to Sophia Caprio ( 8 yards), who the pitched the ball to Foster, taking it 14 more yards for the score
- The touchdown made it a 41-0 game in favor of the Seahawks
- KU added 13 more points as the Seahawks defense had back-to-back pick sixes – 24-yard return by Cavalotti and a 19-yard return by Sarah Villarreal
- Valentina Fanetti recorded her first passing touchdown of the season, hooking up with freshman wide out Olivia Rijo for 24 yards (61-0 with 1:36 left in the third)
Keiser 68, Florida Memorial 0
- Fanetti notched her second passing TD of the game with a three-yard strike to Caprio with 1:08 left in the game
- Keiser’s defense secured the shutout as the game clock expired
Keiser will host the Warner Royals on Thursday, February 27. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
