Tributes have poured in after the death of a ‘beloved figure’ at a local football club.
Cambuslang Rangers announced the ‘unexpected passing’ of John O’Raw, known as ‘Spud’, on Sunday, February 16.
In a post on Facebook, the football team said John was a ‘beloved figure’ at the club as he ‘always helped out’ in the background.

They revealed he was also well-known for his time working in the bar at Sweepers.
In a touching tribute to the much-loved man, Cambuslang Rangers said: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John O’Raw, fondly known to us all as “Spud.”
“Spud was a beloved figure at Cambuslang Rangers, always helping out in the background and well known for his time working in the bar at Sweepers.
“His presence brought laughter and joy to every occasion, as he truly was the life and soul of the party.
“Beyond his contributions to the club, Spud was a great and loyal friend, especially to our manager, Paul.
“His friendship, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Spud’s family, friends, and all who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
“Rest in peace, Spud.
“You will forever be a cherished part of the Cambuslang Rangers family.”
After announcing the sad news, several fans of the club paid tribute to John.
One said: “Condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to Spuds family and wider family.
“God only takes the best.”
Another said: “RIP Spud. Thinking of all the family and friends at this sad time.”
A third person added: “RIP Spud.”
